Credible Catholic Giving Tuesday Update 2021

Credible Catholic Giving Tuesday Update 2021

Last month we shared updates on new programs at the Magis Center: Master Teacher Program, Purposeful Universe, new confirmation videos, and the dissemination of our material  to Ireland and Australia.

Now we are also in the process of developing and expanding more, exciting initiatives:

  • An alliance with the Sophia Institute for Teachers, which will introduce our programs to 60 new dioceses, 600 new schools, and 1,200 new parishes
  • A new moral apologetics course—currently, there are no Catholic moral apologetics courses or programs in the United States.
  • Three new apologetics programs for middle school and high school
  • A new apologetics program for confirmation and catechism classes
  • An expansion of our new website—Purposeful Universe, which has already drawn about one million unengaged students through probative scientific evidence presented by professors.
  • A new marketing campaign for our Master Teacher Program to help teachers get the knowledge and confidence to teach science-based and moral apologetics

Alliance with the Sophia Institute

We have entered into an alliance with the Sophia Institute for Teachers to design our student textbooks, lesson plans, and teacher education for middle school and high school. This will professionalize our student and teacher materials and introduce our programs to 60 new dioceses, 600 new schools, and 1,200 new parishes. These joint efforts will continue to expand into the future as we attempt to reverse the loss of 40.2% of our churchgoing Catholic students to unbelief before the age of 25.

A New Moral Apologetics Course

Currently, there are no Catholic moral apologetics courses or programs in the United States. The Magis Center has developed such a course using secular studies to show that the Church’s moral teaching leads to significantly better spiritual, relational, and emotional health—and that rejecting these teachings leads to a significant decline in these three vital areas. We show why this correlation exists by explaining how the Church’s teachings flow out of Jesus’ profound view of “love” which is the key to His way, truth, and eternal life.

3 New Courses (USCCB Approved Electives)

In conjunction with the Sophia Institute for Teachers, we are designing two new apologetics courses as USCCB approved senior year electives—Apologetics I (the science based evidence for God, Jesus, the soul, and the Church), and Apologetics II (the moral apologetics course described above). Additionally, we are designing an Apologetics I course for middle schools—from 6th grade to 8th grade, and a set of apologetics videos for confirmation and catechetical classes. These courses are 97% successful in helping students to maintain and defend their faith particularly those who had previously been considering unbelief. If you are interested in viewing the students' qualitative comments about the course, go to CredibleCatholic.com, click on “endorsements,” and then click on “student participants.” They are truly extraordinary.

Purposeful Universe

We are also trying to help students who have little or no attachment to the Church or religion and are surfing on the web for “interesting scientific topics.” We have developed a new website called “Purposeful Universe” which points to the existence of a creator and designer of the universe through probative scientific evidence presented by professors at leading universities in the U.S. We have already drawn about one million unengaged students—not only to our short video, but also to longer videos and our website. If you are interested in this part of our mission simply, go to PurposefulUniverse.com.

New Marketing Initiatives

We have launched a marketing campaign for our Master Teacher Program to help teachers get the information and confidence they need to teach science-based apologetics and moral apologetics, which are so needed to help our students maintain and defend their faith. Hundreds of teachers, catechists, and parents throughout the U.S. and the world are enrolling in the program (14 hours of instruction) which results in Certification in Contemporary Apologetics from Catholic Distance University.

This Giving Tuesday, Join us!

With your help, we will make an even bigger difference in turning the rising tide of unbelief, particularly among our young people from ages 13-30. Thank you so very much for your support in the past. We would really appreciate whatever you might be able to afford as we approach the Advent and Christmas seasons.
